Organization Behavior: Analysis Introduction Organizational behavior entails the study of people and the ac tivities within the business in a working site. For efficient working in the organization all workers, need to comprehend their jobs and the organizational plan. There are recognized aspects that manipulate the organization plan and factors that have facilitated RBS effectiveness. Organizational overview Relevant History The RBS CITIZENS is a commercial bank that consists of numerous branches, ATMs, and employees. The bank was initiated in 1828 as the High Street Bank in Hoyle square, then Providence, Rhode Islandââ¬â¢s bustling market centre. Later, the leaders of the High Street Bank got a second charter and established Citizens Savings Bank, which was a joint savings bank that opened with its first deposit in the 1871. Later, the Citizens purchased stock in the High Street Bank and had total management of its original parent. It begun opening branch offices and became part of the FDIC in 1950 thus becoming the foremost mutual bank. Citizen grew sustainably and demutualized in 1986. Later, the ââ¬Å"Royal Bank of Scotland Groupâ⬠(RBS) became the largest banking group in Europe. The Citizens Bank then became a strong capitalized monetary institution in New England and spent the subsequent years extending into other areas (Benioff Adler, 2006).Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Purpose and mission The mission is ââ¬Å"to provide networking opportunities for our members to be able to interact on a regular basis in order to share best practices and respond to address industry and professional issues of the currents interest (Benioff Adler, 2006). Effective organizational practices Working in teams One of the effective organizational practices that the RBS CITIZENS emp loys is working in teams. This has contributed to the businessââ¬â¢s accomplishments because working in teams, involves the combination of strengths among the staff and working towards a common objective. In the RBS CITIZENS, there are numerous tasks, which are large and complex for a single person. There is always a combination of efforts and the projects are always done well due teamwork. The RBS CITIZENSââ¬â¢ personnel work jointly to increase their strength. The augmented strength arises from the utilization of internal expertââ¬â¢s knowledge, complementary competencies and the greater power from the combination of individual strengths. The workers of the RBS become experts through ongoing learning and sharing knowledge with people working in various teams within the organization. According to Eikenberry (2011), teamwork has enabled faster working due to enhanced processes and division of work that seems complex. Moreover, working in teams increases the acceptance of re commendations and pending changes that an individual worker would find difficult to achieve alone (Sampson, 2009). Effective Management The competitiveness of the RBS CITIZENS derives its basis on employment relations established and practiced by the management. There is a combination of control and nurturing in the management practices of the RBS CITIZENS. Their senior management demonstrates a transactional approach. Additionally, the organization emphasizes personnel procedures and regulations as the basis of good managerial actions (Eikenberry, 2011). Thus, the compliance with the entityââ¬â¢s rule is important since it signifies that the aim is to encourage workersââ¬â¢ commitment. An important management supposition of the organization is the selection choice. Employing workers whose worth is not congruent with the business may create a workforce that lacks enthusiasm and loyalty, and persons who are discontented with their work and the business (Keenan, 2011).Advertisin g We will write a custom report sample on Organization behavior specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The management plays an essential part in the supply of works, talents, inventiveness and drive. The experienced managerial teams help the RBS to pursue appropriate goals. The organization also practices shared management by giving all workers in the business a chance to partake in the daily managerial decision-making, and the administration of the organization. It has helped the RBS CITIZENS in the motivation processes that involve staff. As part of the organizationââ¬â¢s culture, contributory management has resulted significantly to the lasting success of the RBS. It has been effective and morally necessary in the RBS CITIZENS (Keenan, 2011). Reward system The organization employs reward systems because it is a powerful way of upgrading employee and work-group performance. The use of rewards in the organization is instrumental in the training of contented employees. The RBS CITIZENS has depended on intrinsic rewards like job enrichment, and opportunities for decision making with the intent of motivating staff. The use of reward method has helped the organization in inspiring constructive behaviors. As such, workers do what they perceive will be rewarded. The employees are likely to behave accordingly knowing that they will be rewarded (McNamara, 2011). The RBS CITIZENS builds a reward system to support changes by working backward from the vision of the critical tasks. This begins with clarity about what attitudes and conducts enhance the success of the business. Once the important attitude and conducts are agreed upon, they decide on how to measure and reward them (McNamara, 2011). In addition to setting up formal rewards, management uses informal and symbolic rewards to encourage productive behaviors. For example, personal recognition, spending time with and paying attention to workforce, and creating and attending special events are powerful signal on aspects that are important in the current and the future state of the organization. The RBS CITIZENS announces all high ââ¬âlevel promotions by sending letters to its employees, which describes their advancement. This enables the RBS to attain clarity about the competencies and values that are essential in the organization (McNamara, 2011).Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Training has also helped the organization in the change of behavior through learning that occurs because of instruction development and planned experience. Attributable to training, the organization can design changes in the work environment for the stimulation of efficiency and higher performance standards (McNamara, 2011). The benefit of the well-designed training in the RBS CITIZENS is evident in the escalation of productivity. The workforce receives training in the current knowledge and skillfulness thus is very productive. They deliver quality outputs and services while working professionally. Additionally, they make fewer mistakes and f waste resources, and regularly give innovative thoughts. Moreover, training helps the organization to improve its output due to job contentment. Training can make workers participate in processes and be happy about their work consequently becoming motivated to contribute in working towards the businessââ¬â¢s mission. Through training, the employees in the RBS CITIZENS have been stimulated to discuss ways to upgrade performances and to put their ideas into practice. Training has established respect for employeesââ¬â¢ ability thus augmenting workersââ¬â¢ confidence, self-esteem, morale, and feelings of job contentment (McNamara, 2011). Furthermore, training experiences has enhanced the levels of loyalty. Since many employees value opportunities to learn new ideas, training aids the organizations in retaining its best workers. Both the staff and the RBS gain from the training. Maintaining skilled workers is vital for the organization. In the Knowledge financial system, peopleââ¬â¢s thinking power is vital to productivity. The RBS and its employees keep pace with new ideas, the latest methods, and evolving technologies. To remain com petitive in the fast-paced worldwide financial system, the business captures the collective knowledge and leaning amongst its staff and builds on it. High performing institutions offer an extensive range of training (McNamara, 2011). Promoting trust One effective practice in the RBS CITIZENS is the promotion of trust. Trust is crucial in progressive businesses meaning that the development of trust between worker and supervisors is a characteristic of the best workplace. Trust has some components, which entails integrity, respect, and justice. The leaders of the RBS CITIZENS value establishment of trust at an individual, level interpersonal level, administrative level and alignment at a managerial level. Trust is the base of consistent and helpful associations in organizations (Benioff Adler, 2006). If organizations are stuck in distrust, workers escape to more encouraging environments. The choice of trust relies on capacity, inevitability, communication, generous concern and patien ce. The RBS facilitates collective trust by the use of cultural cooperation, interdependence across organizational levels, shared decision-making and shared accountability for effectiveness (Lopus, 2010). Trust factor is social glue, which keeps an organization cohesive and committed during flexibility and tremendous transformation. Therefore, trusting in management has benefits in the RBS because it augments outputs, business citizenship, and work performance (Lopus, 2010). Maintaining customer relationships The RBS CITIZENS draws, maintains, and enhances its connection with its clients. The drawing of clients is an essential step in the selling process. The organization maintains its customers by converting indifferent clients into dependable ones and serving customers as clients (Benioff Adler, 2006). The RBS develops a core service around which to build a customer relationship, customize the relationship to the individual customer, and augment the core service with extra benefi ts to escalate the customersââ¬â¢ loyalty. It is obvious that the connection between the RBS and its customers is significant for its survival (Dressler, 2004). Effective communication The RBS is successful because of the effective methods of communication. For instance, some of these methods incorporate audiovisual presentation and holding meetings where the employees receive the message (Jacobsen Torp, 2001). Effective communication joins remote elements and units of the organization. Apt communication amid the management, supervisors, managers and the staff is vital in enhancing organizational efficiency. The reliable communication techniques that the organization uses help in guaranteeing the presence of an additional component to overall organization effectiveness that includes good employee morale (Dressler, 2004). The departmentsââ¬â¢ line-level leaders and the workers they lead would be affected adversely if they think they are being left out of the organizationââ¬â ¢s information flow. It would be increasingly difficult to produce a good work product regardless of what the work entails if one feels he is left out (Benioff Adler, 2006). Effective communication causes morale and attitude changes (Dressler, 2004). Behavioral challenges One of the challenges that the RBS CITIZENS is facing is the management of conflicts. Conflicts will always go up when people defy the old ways of judgment and action. Consequently, more problems arise leading to recommendations for alterations in the organizations (Benioff Adler, 2006). RBS CITIZENSââ¬â¢s major conflicts results from the business structural design. Such conflicts have always represented basic challenges for organization. RBS CITIZEN has a very complex structure, which makes it hard for the organization to react to the altering business conditions (Rahim, 2010). Another challenge that the entity faces is the communication obstacle. It is usually a key source of interpersonal disagreements in businesses. Communication barrier at RBS CITIZENS results from the heavy organizational structure that prolongs the line of communication, from the sender to recipients. This leads to information distortions before the message reaches the targeted employee (Rahim, 2010). Opportunities The organization has knowledgeable leaders who have the ability to join concepts and recognize connections based on knowledge and experience. The RBS CITZENS is restructuring. This process will make it a powerful financial services giver. Additionally, the organization is now collaborating with banks in China and this will help the RBS to be a strong monetary service giver. The organization is also engaging in commodity trading which is expected to be gainful in the end (Rahim, 2010). Recommended Solutions The organization should not essentially eliminate conflicts but there ought to be conflicts management to upgrade business knowledge and efficiency(Benioff Adler, 2006). Everyone should be responsib le in setting up successful communication in the organization. If leaders set up a method for reporting errors, but staff does not report error, the organizational changes can be difficult. Therefore, all staff ought to be educated and trained on the values of effectual communication and the effects of poor communication. The organization should compress its organizational structure, shorten the distance the messages pass from senders to recipients and for easier adaptations to the changing business conditions (Dressler, 2004). Conclusion Successful organizational practices entail a mixture of personality characters, familiarity, understanding, and proficiency needed to lead effective practices by supervisors. The RBS organization has varying stakeholders who ought to alter their services depending to the requirements of their clients. The RBS CITIZENS have managers who integrate customers, employees, and organizational goals. The capability of a business to realize its goals relies on the aptitude of the management. Indeed such aptitude and style enable managers and group leaders to direct, manipulate, and act efficiently. The approach that employees communicate with supervisors and each other can assist them to be useful group members (Rothwell, 2010). The organization is thriving young and has opportunities for growth and embracing new openings. Attributable to its position in the commerce sector, the company has a sense of achievement; nevertheless, it fails to acknowledge that the chances for improvement are minimal. The entity must guard itself against the creation of imitated processes. The organization has the aptitude to do this since they can create additional niches and opportunities that can elevate their success (Benioff Adler, 2006). This can make it intricate for competitors to imitate Blue Nileââ¬â¢s merchandise. Additionally, the entity can beat their competitors by increasing their responsiveness thus comprehending competitors entering th e market. Some new companies could easily start offering better services that are reasonably priced thus taking away the entityââ¬â¢s market share. This is an indicator that they must recognize all threats and adapt to aspects and constraints that arise. References Benioff, M. Adler, C. (2006). Japans Cultural Analysis through Hofstedes Dimensions Term Paper
Japans Cultural Analysis through Hofstedes Dimensions - Term Paper Example However, Japanese are still less hierarchical than their Asian counterparts and believe in joint decision making to some extent (Geert Hofstede n.d). Individualism/collectivism: this dimension measures the extent of ââ¬Å"Iâ⬠or ââ¬Å"Weâ⬠prevailing in the society. In Japan, collectivism is at a high which characterizes harmony, coordination, group efforts, consensus and mutual sharing. Japanese are, however, less collectivist than Chinese. Masculinity/femininity: this dimension tells about quality vs. quantity of life preferred by people in a society. Japan depicts a very high score of 95 which means Japanese are highly masculine- they prefer success, ambitions, competition, and excellence over coordination, consensus, care and overall quality of life (Geert Hofstede n.d). Uncertainty avoidance: future is unknown. Uncertainty avoidance measures whether people in a society try to bind it or let it happen the way it is supposed to. Japan is one of the nations having the highest score of uncertainty avoidance. Japanese tend to control the future through planning, precautions, and regulations and are always wary of the unknown. They study and analyze risk factors in great detail before commencing upon anything. Long-term/short-term orientation: it is a time-based point-of-view towards the achievement of goals and results. Japanese score 80 here which means they are long-term oriented and invest heavily in real-estate and properties to secure their future. They believe in virtues, steadiness of results over time and generations serving the society at large. Canada, unlike Japan, is a country with lower PDI score which means inequalities in power distribution are perceived lesser than that of Japanââ¬â¢s. People respect the status and authority and accept the distribution (Geert Hofstede n.d). Canadians are relaxed when ambiguities and uncertainties are talked of. They suit their laws and regulations with the situations and do not panic; unlike Japanese who always carry a detailed list of rules and risks before doing anything.

Advantages Of A Sole Proprietorship Business Essay
Advantages Of A Sole Proprietorship Business Essay According to Investor words .com, macro environment is the external elements that exist outside of a companys control that can significantly impact its performance and ability to compete in its marketplace. Examples of macro environment elements are the economy, government policy-making, technology, social conditions, and nature. For companies with a global foot-print, their exposure to macro environment elements is magnified. In other hand, according to Business Dictionary, macro environment is The major external and uncontrollable factors that influence an organizations decision making, and affect its performance and strategies. These factors include the economic factors; demographics; legal, political, and social conditions; technological changes; and forces. Specific examples of macro environment influences include competitors, changes in interest rates, changes in cultural tastes, disastrous weather, or government regulations. These factors are Economic Factors The most important external economic influence on a business is the level of competitiveness in its market. This factor determines how much profit a company can make. Other factors, like consumer demand, tax rates and interest rates, affect businesses by determining how much people are willing to pay for their products and how much of the resultant revenue must be given to the government. Social Factors Social factors determine what a business can and cannot do. Businesses that engage in racist marketing campaigns or abuse their employees may be subjected to boycotts, divestment campaigns, and other devastating forms of social backlash. Thus, social mores determine the informal rules that businesses must play by. Legal Factors Laws determine the formal rules that businesses have to play by. Business laws deal with competition: for example, no monopolies; employment: minimum wage; and taxation; among other things. Businesses that form illegal monopolies, for example, may be subjected to lawsuits and broken up into smaller businesses. Because the penalties for corporate malfeasance are so severe, most businesses take the law very serious. Political Factors Political issues occasionally come to influence the activities of the business community. Corporations often spend many billions of dollars lobbying to influence political decision makers for this reason. Businesses may get involved in politics, for example, when their international operations come under fire from human rights groups, or when a high-profile politician recommends an increase in corporate taxes. Introduction Sole Proprietorship A sole proprietorship is the simplest and most common structure chosen to start a business. It is an unincorporated business owned and run by one individual with no distinction between the business and you, the owner. You are entitled to all profits and are responsible for all your businesss debts, losses and liabilities. Partnership A partnership is a single business where two or more people share ownership. Each partner contributes to all aspects of the business, including money, property, labour or skill. In return, each partner shares in the profits and losses of the business. Because partnerships entail more than one person in the decision-making process, its important to discuss a wide variety of issues up front and develop a legal partnership agreement. This agreement should document how future business decisions will be made, including how the partners will divide profits, resolve disputes, change ownership (bring in new partners or buy out current partners) and how to dissolve the partnership. Although partnership agreements are not legally required, they are strongly recommended and it is considered extremely risky to operate without one. Body Sole Proprietorship Forming a Sole Proprietorship You do not have to take any formal action to form a sole proprietorship. As long as you are the only owner, this status automatically comes from your business activities. In fact, you may already own one without knowing it. If you are a freelance writer, for example, you are a sole proprietor. But like all businesses, you need to obtain the necessary licenses and permits. Regulations vary by industry, state and locality. Use the Licensing Permits tool to find a listing of federal, state and local permits, licenses and registrations youll need to run a business. If you choose to operate under a name different than your own, you will most likely have to file aà fictitious nameà (also known as an assumed name, trade name, or DBA name, short for doing business as). You must choose an original name; it cannot already be claimed by another business. Advantages of a Sole Proprietorship Easy and inexpensive to form: A sole proprietorship is the simplest and least expensive business structure to establish. Costs are minimal, with legal costs limited to obtaining the necessary license or permits. Complete control. Because you are the sole owner of the business, you have complete control over all decisions. You arent required to consult with anyone else when you need to make decisions or want to make changes.à Easy tax preparation. Your business is not taxed separately, so its easy to fulfil the tax reporting requirements for a sole proprietorship. The tax rates are also the lowest of the business structures. Partnership Types of Partnershipsà à à à à à à à There are three general types of partnership arrangements: General Partnershipsà assume that profits, liability and management duties are divided equally among partners. If you opt for an unequal distribution, the percentages assigned to each partner must be documented in the partnership agreement. Limited Partnershipsà (also known as a partnership with limited liability) are more complex than general partnerships. Limited partnerships allow partners to have limited liability as well as limited input with management decisions. These limits depend on the extent of each partners investment percentage. Limited partnerships are attractive to investors of short-term projects. Joint Venturesà act as general partnership, but for only a limited period of time or for a single project. Partners in a joint venture can be recognized as an ongoing partnership if they continue the venture, but they must file as such. Advantages of a Partnership Easy and Inexpensive.à Partnerships are generally an inexpensive and easily formed business structure. The majority of time spent starting a partnership often focuses on developing the partnership agreement. Shared Financial Commitment.à In a partnership, each partner is equally invested in the success of the business. Partnerships have the advantage of pooling resources to obtain capital. This could be beneficial in terms of securing credit, or by simply doubling your seed money. Complementary Skills.à A good partnership should reap the benefits of being able to utilize the strengths, resources and expertise of each partner. Partnership Incentives for Employees.à Partnerships have an employment advantage over other entities if they offer employees the opportunity to become a partner. Partnership incentives often attract highly motivated and qualified employees. Conclusion Choosing a sole proprietorship to start your business is a relatively simple process. In fact, you elect this business set up by default if you prefer not to go through a more formal set up with an LLC or corporation. A sole proprietorship has no formal paperwork requirements unless you have to file for state or local business registration or professional licensing. The fact that a sole proprietorship is the simplest way to go into business has great appeal for many entrepreneurs. If you want to start a small one-man repair shop, writing business or lawn care service, the thought of going through tedious paperwork filing and keeping up with documentation requirements may not seem appealing. By opting for a sole proprietor setup, you simply start your company, promote it, do the work, and collect the money.

salem witchcraft trials cause and effect Essay -- essays research pape
In 1692 the area of Salem town and Salem village became very vulnerable to conflict. Severe weather such as hurricanes had damaged land and crops, the effects of King Phillips War began to impact New England society, and colonists were being forced off of the frontiers by Native peoples. The Church and the government were in heavy conflict. And those residing in Salem began to grow suspicious of one another when some prospered and others hadnââ¬â¢t (Marcus, p13). Suddenly people seemed very paranoid and soon residents were placing blame on one another and accusing each other of witchcraft. In a fifteen month period between 1691 and 1692 nearly twelve dozen people were accused of witchcraft in or near Salem (Norton, p8). à à à à à Although witch trials were not uncommon in Puritanical New England, none had reached such epidemic proportions as Salem. In 1691 the mass hysteria began when several young girls dabbled in witchcraft and began acting strange. When villagers took notice the girls were seriously questioned and so they began naming people, mainly woman, who had supposedly bewitched them (Boyer, p66). Several other who had been accused were woman displayed ââ¬Ëunfeminineââ¬â¢ behavior and those who stood to inherit more economic power than most men in the area (Boyer, p66). By 1692 the young girls had continued to make false accusations of townspeople. Many of those accused were townspeople who were more prominent than others. Villagers, such as the young girl...

ââ¬ÅMalgudi Daysââ¬Â by R.K. Narayan Essay
In Malgudi Days, although R.K. Narayan seems to present us with a bleak portrayal of India where life is very hard and there is very little human happiness, he means to reflect the triumph of the human spirit over the cruel circumstances of life. In India, poverty and the lack of education are prejudiced against and people are discriminated against because they are poor. In ââ¬ËA Willing Slaveââ¬â¢, Ayah is discriminated against and treated badly merely because she is an uneducated servant. When she comes back late for the first time after her visit home, her employers imagine the worst, thinking ââ¬Ëshe has perhaps been run over by a car and killedââ¬â¢, ââ¬Ëshe must have taken it in her head to give herself a holiday. No one is indispensable. I will dismiss her for this.ââ¬â¢ Although Ayah has contributed much to the family, no one but Radha appreciates it. The same goes for Sidda in ââ¬ËLeelaââ¬â¢s Friendââ¬â¢, who is immediately assumed to be a thief si mply because he was an ex-convict. However, the characters are not totally unhappy. Both Ayah and Sidda have a close, loving relationship with their charges, Radha and Leela, who seem to cling on to them more than they do to their parents. The children are free from prejudice and appreciate the true value of their servants. It is also untrue that the vicious cycle of poverty condemns a person to a life of unhappiness. In the story ââ¬ËThe Martyrââ¬â¢s Cornerââ¬â¢, the lack of education does not mean a poor and unhappy life for Rama, who was said to be ââ¬Ëearning more money than graduatesââ¬â¢. At times, external circumstances overturn previously happy lives and characters are not in control of their destiny. In ââ¬ËThe Axeââ¬â¢, the appearance of the developers literally tear down Velanââ¬â¢s happy existence and forces him to leave the house. In ââ¬ËThe Martyrââ¬â¢s Cornerââ¬â¢, Rama is forced to become a waiter when his life starts on a downward spiral after his ââ¬Ëold spotââ¬â ¢ was taken up by a statue of a dead political leader. Yet, while the characters are not in control of external factors, they still have control over their inner lives. Rama lives with and adapts to his new environment and still retains his usual, placid manner. People also seem to be manipulated and exploited by other people. In ââ¬ËSelviââ¬â¢, Mohan uses Selvi as an emotionless mannequin, even to the point where he gives her a ââ¬Ëscriptââ¬â¢ to follow, all for money and his personal fame. However, Selviââ¬â¢s emotional and spiritual self does not seem to be affected. She was ââ¬Ërapt in some secret melody or world of her ownââ¬â¢ and even though Mohan controls her body, he is unable to control her mind. Sheà also eventually rebels and goes back to live in her old home. In ââ¬ËA Willing Slaveââ¬â¢, Ayah seems to have been exploited by her employers. Her ââ¬Ëself-imposed tasksââ¬â¢ go unappreciated and even when her husband takes her away, he feels ââ¬Ëproud of his slaveââ¬â¢. However, Ayah seems spiritually happy at being used, she seems to need feeling needed and is as happy serving others as they are exploiting her. It is her happiness that matters in the end. There seems to be little human happiness presented in Malgudi Days. Love causes hurt and pain, people are torn apart by conflicting circumstances. Mixed blessings give cause for lament when people cannot enjoy their rewards. In ââ¬ËForty-Five A Monthââ¬â¢, Venkat Rao cannot spend more time with his family as he seems to have been purchased outright for forty-five rupees. However, as we look behind his reasons for slaving at his job, we find that he swallows insults at work so that his family can swallow food. His love for his daughter is great and it gives rise to his motivation at work. In ââ¬ËA Shadowââ¬â¢, Sambu misses his father immensely as he loves him a lot. However, the very existence of Love is a great triumph for the human spirit. Therefore, though there may be hardship and s uffering, in the end we see that the human spirit has the ultimate victory.
